POLICE SUBSTATION
Transforming Existing Space Into a Modern Public Safety Resource
The Oro Valley Police Substation transformed a vacant 5,000-square-foot building into a modern, fully functioning law enforcement facility designed to support the Town's growing public safety needs. Originally constructed in 1985 and acquired by the Oro Valley Police Department through foreclosure, the building served as a temporary substation for several years before undergoing a comprehensive expansion and renovation.
The project included a 17,000-square-foot addition, creating space for specialized police operations, community services, and long-term evidence storage. The expanded facility provides offices for the department's training coordinator, K9 unit, and community action team, while also offering a convenient location for residents to access police services and file reports.

Delivered through the Design-Bid-Build method, the project required the seamless integration of new construction with the existing structure while maintaining the security, functionality, and durability expected of a modern law enforcement facility. A key component of the project was the creation of a dedicated evidence storage area designed to house more than 80,000 pieces of property and evidence.
To support this critical function, the facility incorporates specialized ventilation and environmental control systems that maintain secure, consistent storage conditions. The result is a highly functional public safety facility that enhances operational efficiency, supports community policing efforts, and provides the infrastructure needed to serve Oro Valley for years to come.
