how we build matters

The Lloyd Way defines how we plan, build, and deliver every project.

How we build reflects who we are. Since 1969, owners across Arizona have trusted Lloyd to guide complex projects with transparency, discipline, and steady leadership.

Our approach prioritizes safety, disciplined preconstruction, lean construction practices, and delivery methods that fit the project. The result is a clear, collaborative process that protects your budget, schedule, and vision.

safety first

a successful project starts with people going home safe every day.

At Lloyd, safety isn’t a compliance exercise — it’s part of how we work. Our teams maintain a proactive, site-specific safety culture supported by daily Pre-Task Hazard Analysis meetings, weekly toolbox talks, OSHA training, and an active Safety Committee. Every person on a Lloyd job site has the authority and responsibility to stop work if something isn’t safe.

For owners, strong safety practices also create a more stable project environment. Safe job sites experience fewer disruptions, lower risk exposure, and more consistent progress throughout construction.

certified professionals

Our safety program is led by Director of Environmental Health & Safety Michael Clark and Safety Manager Hector Hinojosa, who develop site-specific safety plans tailored to each project.

stop-work authority

Each day begins with a Pre-Task Hazard Analysis meeting, where every worker has the authority and responsibility to stop any unsafe task until the risk is addressed.

weekly toolbox talks

Weekly toolbox talks reinforce safe work practices, equipment use, and the physical and mental well-being of everyone on site.

always fully trained

All team members complete safety orientation and OSHA 10 training, with ongoing education for crews and subcontractors on key jobsite safety practices.

disciplined preconstruction

The decisions that shape a project’s success happen long before construction begins.

Lloyd’s preconstruction process helps owners move forward with clarity and confidence. We work closely with the design team to validate scope, develop accurate cost models, review constructability, and establish a realistic schedule early in the process. Our estimating runs alongside design, allowing budget and cost to inform decisions as they are being made.

When appropriate, we also structure projects into multiple GMP packages to give owners greater flexibility and control, helping manage long-lead items, accelerate procurement, and keep the project aligned with budget and schedule.

lean construction

Efficiency isn’t just about speed — it’s about keeping your project coordinated, on budget, and moving forward.

Lloyd applies lean construction principles, including the Last Planner® system, to create predictable workflow and reduce waste across every phase. Pull-planning sessions bring the full team — including subcontractors — into the scheduling process early, helping coordinate work and minimize disruption when multiple trades share the job site.

For owners, this means clearer communication and better coordination throughout construction. Our teams track progress daily through Procore, hold regular OAC meetings, and maintain active action logs so decisions stay visible and the project continues moving forward.

flexible delivery

The right delivery method can save time, reduce risk, and improve project outcomes.

Lloyd has extensive experience with the delivery methods most commonly used by public agencies and private owners in Arizona, including Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR), Design-Build, and Job Order Contracting (JOC). Since 2000, we’ve been awarded 380 CMAR projects in Southern Arizona, and today about 90% of our work is delivered through collaborative methods.

cmar

Owners gain early cost clarity and a collaborative team working together from the start. Through CMAR, Lloyd joins the project during design to provide estimating, constructability insight, and scheduling guidance, helping align design decisions with budget and schedule before construction begins.

design-build

When schedule and coordination matter most, Design-Build streamlines the process by uniting design and construction under one team. Owners benefit from faster decision-making, simplified communication, and a more efficient path from concept to construction.

joc

For ongoing improvements and smaller projects, JOC allows owners to move quickly without repeating the full procurement process. Pre-established pricing enables projects to be scoped, priced, and delivered efficiently while maintaining cost transparency.

traditional bid

When a project is fully designed and clearly defined, competitive bidding can provide straightforward pricing and procurement. Lloyd’s disciplined estimating and construction management ensure the project is executed efficiently once construction begins.
